emulation
from psalms of the 21st century
This modern choral setting of an original text by Nathan Howe is designed for concert performance. First in a new set of songs called Psalms of the 21st Century, Emulation features rich 6-part harmonies. Emulation is intended for use by advanced choirs.
Emulation does not sound right on the piano (although it may be used to assist in rehearsal), so for previewing purposes, a MIDI piano reduction would not be sufficient. Therefore, we present a recording by The Nathan Howe Unitette, made from fragments of over 200 short recordings. The pitches were not electronically altered.
Performance Notes from the score: The dissonant harmonies of this piece require a controlled sound without overpowering vibrato. One voice part should never dominate. The melodic line is far less important than the cooperative texture of the choir as a whole.
The following files are available for this piece. More may be posted in the future. To find out about our newest music, subscribe to the Noisebox.
