Out of Silence, Majesty

Sheet music for a new solo by Nathan Howe, Out of Silence, Majesty, is now available from LDSmusic.us. Written for use in a recent missionary fireside, Out of Silence, Majesty compares the silence before the creation of the world with the silence of Gethsemane and the silence of the Sacred Grove. This is one of Nathan Howe’s most requested songs. Find it on our LDS Solos Page.

New Keys for Grate Hymns

To celebrate our new layout, we have posted this week new editions in different keys for the following selections:

  • When Godly Sorrow Moves the Soul
  • Sonnet on Endurance
  • Like Sunlight Gleams Thy Grace, O Lord
  • I am Naught without my Savior
  • Nathan Howe’s arrangement of
    Come, Ye Thankful People

Many of these new keys work better for choirs. All include MIDI files so you can preview them in the new keys.

Exciting Announcements: Nathan Howe on LDS Music Today and New Websites Up and Running

We don’t usually update gratemusic.com so early in the week, but we have some excellent news! First, we have just been informed that one of Nathan Howe’s songs has been selected for play on the LDS Music Today Podcast with Steve Larsen. It will be on show 40, scheduled to be posted this week! To download it, go to www.ldsmusictoday.com and click on the “Download the Show” link on the main menu. If you enjoy the podcast, please let Steve know.

Our second exciting news item is that after a few days of quirky performance in non-Microsoft browsers, we are happy to announce that the redesigned gratemusic.com and LDSmusic.us are up and running, and Firefox seems to like them! Feel free to let us know what you think of the new look, and also tell us if you have any problems accessing the music. You can reach us through the contact page. To celebrate, we will be posting new editions of some of our hymns in different keys that may work better for choirs. We will, of course, keep the old ones available as well. Keep an eye on your favorites, and we will send a report listing what we have posted in the Noisebox on Friday.

Come, Ye Thankful People and a Site Redesign

First off, Nathan Howe’s new arrangement of the beloved hymn Come, Ye Thankful People for unaccompanied six-part mixed chorus is available on the Choral Music page. This two-page arrangement is perfect for a Thanksgiving program of any type. Download it today, and listen to the MIDI file to get an idea of how it sounds.

Second, if you haven’t noticed, the sites are going through a few changes. For example, on pages like the Choral Music page and the Hymns page, clicking the title of the piece sends you to a page where you can get information on the music and access the different file formats in which we publish it. This will be especially helpful when we start posting songs in multiple keys. While we work out our web design bugs, the site works best when viewed in Internet Explorer. We realize that for some, this is terrible news, but we hope to be more compatible with Firefox and other browsers shortly.

Update: It works! See the entry above for details.
