i am naught without my Savior
Text by David Macfarlane
I am naught without my Savior;
I shall live to give Him laud.
Taste of mercy I shall savor
As I grow to know my God.
Life eternal is Thy promise;
Life with Thee is my desire.
Marked the path is, keep me on it;
Cleanse, refine me in Thy fire.
In the days of my first lessons,
I was known to Him by name,
Chosen by divine election
Ere the heavens and earth were framed.
Walking in His light, He taught me;
Him I followed every hour.
"Build my kingdom," He besought me,
"'Til I come in glory and power."
Dimmed on earth my recollection
I forgot the Savior's name
But a voice of kind correction
Brought me to my knees again.
Like a stream of living water,
O the sweet, familiar sound!
Christ the Son, Salvation's Father,
Broke the chains which held me bound.
Send me, Lord, and I shall serve Thee;
All my heart I give to Thee,
E'en my will surrendered to Thee,
Given in all humility.
Then, O Rock of my salvation,
Guide me with Thy gentle hand;
Grant my soul sweet jubilation
As I serve my fellow man.
O Lord, I have trusted in Thee;
I will trust in Thee fore'er.
In the arm of flesh unworthy
Is there glory? No, not e'er.
E'er ascends my voice in praises
Unto Thee, my Iron Rod.
Praise be Thine, O Rock of Ages;
Hail the Everlasting God!
